Whitestone Media Taps Propeller for THEO Launch

by Andy Peterson on June 1, 2011

What began as an idea over three decades ago has finally come into fruition as the highly anticipated animation series THEO is ready for launch at Christian retail. After recently completing production and securing partnerships, THEO, a Bible-based animated kids property and brainchild of Mike Joens, will release nationwide September 13th. This June, LifeWay Christian Resources launches the curriculum, THEO: Foundations of Faith ($39.00 for five sessions).

Starting with the DVD release titled “God’s Love” ($14.99), which includes the initial three episodes featuring Theo, an English cartoon theologian, the series is dedicated to teaching children of all ages Biblical doctrine and godly living through practical – and often humorous – illustration. Theo’s lessons can be used for Sunday school and Christian school curriculum, missions, evangelism and homeschooling.

Whitestone Media – the production company behind THEO – enlisted Propeller to lead the charge at CBA Retail, managing all marketing and brand-messaging strategies to faith-based audiences for all product-development partners (e.g. DVD, curriculum, books, website). Additionally, Propeller is working with distributor EMI CMG on DVD-release objectives and overseeing product set-up prior to launch.

Also partnering with Whitestone and Propeller is Plain Joe Studios, an award-winning media design firm that is putting the finishing touches on a THEO app, which has been in development since 2010. The app will include daily scripture, games, activities, coloring pages, worksheets and episodes for preview and purchase. For more information on THEO visit the website.
