Propeller Expands and Diversifies Its Impact though Partnership with Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ocean Futures Society
Propeller Consulting is proud to announce a partnership with Ocean Futures Society, an organization created by famed ocean explorer, Jean-Michel Cousteau. His latest endeavor is dedicated to exploring our global ocean, inspiring and educating people throughout the world to act responsibly for its protection, documenting the critical connection between humanity and nature, and celebrating the ocean’s vital importance to the survival of all life on our planet.
Propeller will be working directly with Jean-Michel Cousteau and his team on the development of strategic marketing initiatives to increase awareness and support for the organization. This will include research analysis, brand messaging, public relations, and web strategy.
“Propeller is thrilled with the opportunity to work alongside Jean-Michel Cousteau and his team at Ocean Futures Society. We believe Jean-Michel’s simple message of ‘protect the ocean and you protect yourself’, will resonate with consumers who are increasingly conscious of their impact on the environment,” says Andy Peterson, Senior Marketing Director at Propeller. “Our experience marketing family oriented products is a good fit with this message as we aim to provide greater exposure for Ocean Futures around the world.”
Propeller will also launch a grassroots campaign to help expand the brand into local communities across the country. Strategic plan work will begin immediately, with a focus on securing national partners to increase awareness, as well as a new website launch scheduled for this summer.
About Ocean Futures Society
For over 60 years, Jean-Michel Cousteau, son of famed French underwater explorer and filmmaker, Jacques Yves Cousteau, has participated in groundbreaking ocean exploration that is regarded historically as the greatest of all time. Committed to exploring the connection between the actions of mankind and the health of the ocean, Ocean Futures recognizes these priorities:
- Clean water, the essence of life and a birthright for everyone, must become readily available every person on the planet.
- Coastal marine habitats, coral reefs, estuaries and wetlands must receive categorical protection in order to assure the ocean’s quality of life, and thus our own.
- Marine mammals, our biological counterparts in the sea, must be protected from human impact.
- Sustainable fisheries must be created to reflect our ability to manage natural resources wisely.
In order to effectively carry out its mission, Ocean Futures Society is actively involved in programs and products to create a shift in perception, behavior and policy toward wiser choices in our relationship with the natural system. Currently, these include:
- Global Ocean Network : a comprehensive, multi-phased ocean exploration and communications project
- Ambassadors of the Environment : educational programs for young people (http://www.aote.org)
- Sustainable Reefs : a program for Island nations
- Film Projects : innovative underwater television productions
- Northwestern Hawaiian Islands : exploration and one-hour television special
- Media Campaigns : public service announcements in partnership with Earth Communications Office (ECO)
